Use the free Gossip Toolbar to get celebrity photos, news, biographies and gossip anywhere in the world.
Editorial Review
With the Celebrity Gossip toolbar from MIVA, Internet Explorer users
can now get all the latest news and gossip from the celebrity world
right in their browser. The Celebrity Gossip toolbar features a
scrolling news feed that constantly updates across the middle of the
toolbar and lets users know what’s going on in Hollywood and beyond.
The Celebrity Gossip toolbar features a search function at the far left
of the toolbar that allows users to access the Starware homepage, FAQ,
terms of use, uninstall options, and toolbar preferences menu. The
search window serves as both a web search and celebrity news search
platform and works just like that of a major search engine, except it
doesn’t use any of the major search engines.
The “Celebrity Search” button brings the user to a Starpulse.com home
page that features celebrity news, gossip, and photos as well as a
healthy dose of ads. This page is a regularly updated source for
celebrity gossip, but there are other websites out there that contain a
more comprehensive database of celebrity happenings and goings-on.
The news feed that runs continuously across the Celebrity Gossip
toolbar brings celebrity news, but its customization is limited. You
can’t pick and choose which celebrities you would most like to hear
about and uncheck celebrities you don’t care to read about. However,
you can pull the feed down to see the most recent news without having
to wait for the feed to display them.
There is also a “Movie Reviews” link that brings the user to the
lackluster Spill.com movie site where the user is forced to view even
more advertising and banners.
The rest of the Celebrity Gossip toolbar buttons are blatant
advertising and sponsors such as “Free Music,” “Heavy.com,” and
“Bid4Prizes.”
Internet Explorer users searching for the latest celebrity gossip would
be much better off getting the dirt on their favorite stars from a
dedicated website rather than downloading the Celebrity Gossip toolbar.
Upon initial download of the toolbar, anti-virus software warns of
malicious software bundled with the Celebrity Gossip toolbar and many
remnants of the toolbar software need to be manually removed even after
the uninstallation has been completed. The positive factors of the
toolbar – the celebrity gossip – can be just as easily obtained by
bookmarking your favorite celebrity gossip sites and forgoing the
constant exposure to ads running directly in your browser. Unless you
are a very big fan of the news that the Celebrity Gossip toolbar brings
you, pass on this software.
