Smiley faces and emoticons are cool little pictures and characters that display emotions, facial expressions, and funny actions. They've become so popular with internet users that it is very common to see an emoticon or smiley thrown into an instant message chat, an email, and also websites (including myspace, facebook profiles and forums). They are very dynamic way to express yourself.
Smiley faces are quite easy to use. With software such as Smiley Central installed you simply launch the program and click on the icon you want to embed in a web page or chat. The difference between emoticons and smiley faces are that emoticons are used to display an emotion, and they were the most basic smiley a while ago. A simple :) is used for a happy face; whereas smiley faces are graphic, animated characters, that also display emotions and actions, but there are so many more as well, like animals; cute little kittens and puppies, as well as ponies and lizards!
