Editorial Review
Any web users that use Internet Explorer need to worry about security. As the most popular web browser, it is also the most vulnerable to malicious attacks because of its popularity. The Advanced SearchBar gives Internet Explorer users an unparalleled level of security against these attacks as well as a plethora of other options, making it one of the preeminent toolbars available for the IE browser anywhere. A Firefox version is anticipated.
The Advanced Searchbar is downloaded to the desktop and automatically loaded into Internet Explorer upon a quick restart. The Advanced Searchbar’s interface is functional and blends well with the IE browser and it fits all of its many features surprisingly without becoming cluttered. The Advanced Searchbar contains no spyware, no malware, and no adware.
The Advanced Searchbar’s search widow is all the way to the left. Unlike other toolbars with search function, the Advanced SearchBar’s search window enables the user to choose between 210 web resources and search engines, including Google, Yahoo!, and MSN. The searches are rendered quickly and the results are displayed on the search engine or web resource’s own search results page.
The Advanced SearchBar also has a robust pop blocker that allows for different options including the ability to allow pop ups from a “white list” of pages. The pop-up blocker keeps a running tab of all pop-ups blocked in this window for quick reference.
New to the Advanced SearchBar is the ability to make local searches to your zip code. There is a setting that allows for your zip code to always display but you can configure this to show results from other locations as well.
Other functions of the Advanced SearchBar include an expanded calculator, an FM radio station catalogue, hotlinks to 20 large web-based mail servers, 22 news hotlinks, and dozens of games.
The Advanced SearchBar also includes more tools that interact with the Windows operating system enabling the user to make settings and security changes right from their browser. Also extremely handy are hotlinks and tools for security such as anti-viruses, spyware blockers, and firewalls.
With almost too many features to list, the Advanced SearchBar runs surprisingly well on the IE browser and doesn’t hog too many system resources. There is no noticeable lag time associated with its use. For the Internet Explorer user that enjoys having everything at his fingertips, one would be extremely hard pressed to find a toolbar as versatile and it’s impossible to find one with its search functionality. The Advanced SearchBar is certainly a winner.
